In the Swedish capital of Stockholm, the Volvo Environment Prize Foundation has awarded its 2013 environment prize to Dr. Qin Dahe, the first Chinese scientist to win the award.

In the Swedish capital of Stockholm, the Volvo Environment Prize Foundation has awarded its 2013 environment prize to Dr. Qin Dahe, the first Chinese scientist to win the award. Qin Dahe is an academic at the Chinese Academy of Science, a renowned meteorologist and glaciologist.

The jury says Dr. Qin has made outstanding contributions to the scientific understanding of climate, both in China and at the global level. The jury highlighted Qin's contribution to a report, which for the first time demonstrated a clear link between climate change and many extreme events.

Qin has also a remarkable research record. He has published 400 articles.

The Volvo Environment Prize was introduced in 1988, and is awarded to outstanding innovations and scientific discoveries in the field.
