Families with Beijing hukou (household registration) living in public rental housing can now enjoy the same social services as residents of the neighborhood they live in, including community healthcare, and compulsory education for children, the Beijing Daily reported.
The measures, released on November 29, aim to broaden access to social service resources after public rental housing was expanded across
districts in Beijing. According to the new policy, a child with a hukou in Chaoyang district will be able to enroll in schools located in Fengtai district if she/he lives in the district. Public rental housing is provided to middle- and low-income families.
