Starting next year, the local government will ban live poultry sales in the city from Chinese New Year to the end of April, the city's commerce and agriculture authorities announced Friday.
The authorities based their decision on concerns over public health, according to the announcement.
The city's 110 authorized live poultry markets will also take part in the ban during the period.
