The right of HIV-positive patients to get medical treatment in Beijing will be further ensured, with the goal of eliminating HIV-based discrimination in hospitals, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.
According to Fang Lan-ying, director of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Health, HIV-positive patients' right to medical treatment should always be safeguarded. Fang added that medical staff should be better protected from occupational exposure to HIV in patients' blood and body fluids.
According to Fang, more than 7,700 HIV-positive patients are registered in Beijing, and the bureau will endeavor to locate unregistered patients.
