Two people were killed and two others are missing after a landslide in northwest China's Gansu province on Wednesday night, local authorities confirmed on Thursday.
Twenty-four people were injured in the landslide, which happened around 8:30 p.m. at a workers' residential area near a tunnel on the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway in Wudu district in the city of Longnan, according to the emergency office of the provincial government.
The landslide buried the workers' prefabricated houses at the foot of the hill. Along with the landslide, a huge water tank which was used for irrigation also rolled off the hill and hit the construction site and the shelters, the office said.
As of Thursday morning, two people have been confirmed dead while two others remain missing. The injured are being treated in a local hospital.
Rescue work continues. An investigation into the cause of the landslide is under way.
