Nearly 80 percent of drivers in a Shanghai survey admitted they use their mobile phones while waiting for traffic lights.
The online survey was conducted by Shanghai Morning Post and news portal sh.qq.com and about 10,000 netizens participated.
If a driver looks at his or her mobile phone while the vehicle is moving, no matter how skillful the driver may be, the travel track of the vehicle will change, said Zhu Wei, a trainer at the drivers' training school under the Shanghai traffic police department.
