A foreign motorcyclist who hit a middle-aged woman in Beijing has been expelled from the country, according to a statement released by the city police on their official Sina Weibo account.
The Beijing police statement did not name the foreigner, his father, their nationalities. The father has also been expelled.
Police kept the man in custody for a week and fined him 1,500 yuan ($247) for breaking traffic laws as he was found driving without a license and the motorbike lacked a license plate.
The foreigner and his father had been working illegally, police also found, and added another five days' custody and a 5,000-yuan fine for the son. The father was held for 14 days and fined 10,000 yuan. Police fined an unnamed company 20,000 yuan for illegally employing a foreigner.
When a series of photos appeared online of the accident at Xiangheyuan Lu and Zuojiazhuang Dongjie on December 3, they aroused heated debate, some claiming the woman was extorting money. Police later released a video that clarified the real blame in the accident.
