Chinese Foreign Ministry has confirmed that one Chinese citizen has been killed in a wave of looting in Argentina.

Many Chinese grocery stores and supermarkets in Argentina have been looted following the recent police strike in the country.

The looting has spread to 20 out of 23 provinces in the south American country. Twelve people have been killed, including one Chinese shop owner.

The riots first broke out in the city of Cordoba last week, after police staged strikes to demand a pay rise and better working conditions.

Local media reported that the city was in a state of collapse as government departments, banks, and schools have all been closed. China's Foreign Ministry has warned Chinese people in the country to be on high alert.
