Area evacuated after gas leak

A serious gas leak in a countyof Qinghai province since noon on Dec 19 caused firefighters and police to evacuate the area, China News Service reported.

Around 11 am, a gas pipe was broken during construction at an ecological park in Ping'an county, causing the gas leak, the report said.

The pipe valve was closed that afternoon and residents living around the park continued to be evacuated, the report said, adding that no deaths or injuries had been reported.
