In a bid to curb corruption, Chongqing's Qijiang district has introduced a new system in which banquets hosted by officials' immediate family members will be documented in government records.
Different from the system for banquets hosted by leading officials, the new system which was launched in September encompasses stricter requirements, Chongqing Commercial Daily reported on Tuesday.
The district commission of discipline inspection is responsible for the inspection of the banquets by the way of tour inspection, open and secret investigation, and spot checks, with the rate of spot checks being no less than 30 percent.
If the law banning lavish banquets and the receipt of gift money is violated, both officials and their immediate family members will be held accountable.
The district has recently punished three officials whose immediate family members received gift money at wedding banquets.
