According to the public security department at Beijing Railway Station, as 2013 draws to a close, passenger volume has increased and more people are losing their belongings. About 80 percent of missing items have been found around the security inspection machines, the Beijing Evening News reported.

From December 1 to 23, the police at Beijing Railway Station have found 96 items and 47,244 yuan ($7,781) in cash misplaced by passengers. In total, passengers misplace an average of 2,000 yuan per day.

The head of the public security department at the station said that passengers should consolidate their smaller bags into larger baggage to reduce the number of bags they take to the railway stations.
