The number of traffic crashes that occurred through November this year in the city fell 10.4 percent to 1,838 from the same period last year, the Laodong Daily reported.

The crashes left 776 people dead and 1,391 injured, down 4.7 percent and 27.2 percent respectively.

The city's traffic police issued 9 million traffic citations over the 11 months, up 8 percent from last year, the report said.

The traffic police division plans to step up enforcement in the coming days as it expects to see an increase in violations as the weather gets worse and more drivers attend holiday banquets.
