China's state-owned railway corporation has issued the rail schedule for next year's Spring Festival travel rush; the biggest population migration on Earth every year.
China Railway Corporation estimates a total of 258 million trips will be made during the travel season; that's 18 million more than the previous year. The travel rush will start on January the 16th and continue for forty days until February the 24th. The railway system will add more than 600 extra trains to increase its capacity during the time. Tickets for regular trains will be available online and phone booking 20 days before travel day, starting this Saturday. The move is expected to avoid long queues in train stations, and will allow people to plan their journeys further in advance.
