2 dead, 4 trapped in S China blast

Two people were killed and another four were trapped on Thursday after a blast in Meizhou City in south China's Guangdong province, local authorities said.

The blast happened at 4:28 p.m. when a firework store room exploded in Xinyu Township.

Rescuers found two dead at the scene. Four people remained trapped as of 8 p.m..

Rescue work is still under way.
