No Chinese casualties in Thai bus accident

The Chinese embassy in Thailand said Friday no Chinese citizens have been found injured or dead in a bus accident that took place in north Thailand's Phetchabun province at around 11 p.m. Thursday.

According to the embassy, a coach carrying 37 people fell off a bridge while heading to northeastern Chiang Rai province, leaving 30 people dead, four seriously injured and three others missing.

The embassy has conformed with the local police and hospital and found no Chinese casualties. The police are still searching for those who remain missing.

Local media earlier reported that the accident claimed at least 31 lives.

The embassy said it will continue to follow the development of the accident
