Another baby, a boy 2 months old, died one day after receiving a hepatitis B vaccination in Central China's Hunan province.
Blood was found in the baby's mouth and nose and his responses were faint after he received a second hepatitis B vaccination manufactured by a Beijing pharmaceutical company.
Doctors said the baby, which was born prematurely, died of pulmonary edema after emergency treatment. He had been diagnosed with several diseases including neonatal pneumonia and heart dysfunction.
The baby showed no symptoms after receiving the first vaccination made by Shenzhen's BioKangtai, whose hepatitis B vaccines have been suspended nationwide.
Since November, at least 12 infants in China have died following hepatitis B vaccination.
