Shanghai published newly revised guidance for passengers who take the subway in the East China city that they are not allowed to eat any food in the subway cars, the Jiefang Daily reported Tuesday.
Shanghai Transport and Port Bureau said Monday that the new guidance responded to public opinion and would take effect on Wednesday, the Shanghai-based newspaper said.
The guidance did not forbid passengers from eating food at stations, a condition reportedly advocated by some Shanghai residents.
