A new case of H7N9 bird flu has been reported in Taiwan. Local disease control authorities announced Tuesday that a tourist from the mainland was infected with the virus, in what is the island's second case of H7N9.
The 86-year-old male patient from the eastern province of Jiangsu is in stable condition in hospital. He's been hospitalized since December 24th, after developing respiratory problems. The man's two daughters, who have stayed in Taiwan to look after him, have shown no symptoms of bird flu.
The other 22 people in the tour group have returned to the mainland. The first case of H7N9 in Taiwan was reported last April.
