Beijing No.1 Social Welfare Institute, the city's first publicly owned nursing home, is no longer taking names for registration and no definite date has been provided for when it will resume, the Beijing Youth Daily reported. As of October of last year, more than 10,000 people had registered for the senior home, with the number increasing by 10 every day. The waiting list is so long that some registrants would need to wait 100 years before being offered a spot. The senior home, located at the North Third Ring Road, includes a hospital and nursing center as well as shopping, washing and caretaking services for only 1,200 yuan per month.
