Hong Kong Chief Executive C Y Leung Tuesday mourned for the death of media mogul and philanthropist Run Run Shaw and commended his great contribution to local entertainment industry and charity.
Speaking to the media before attending the Executive Council meeting, Leung said Shaw had been instrumental in pushing ahead with the development of entertainment business in the city and had attained eminent achievements.
Leung said Shaw was a well-respected person who was enthusiastic for charity. He also expressed his condolences to Shaw's family.
Television Broadcasts Limited of Hong Kong announced Tuesday that Shaw, its chairman emeritus, passed away in the company of his family at 6:55 a.m. local time at home at the age of 107.
