The Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce (BAIC) and the Beijing Consumer Association recently advised consumers who frequent hairdressing salons to make a habit of asking for a receipt, to protect their rights in case of a dispute, the Beijing News reported.
With Spring Festival drawing near, the number of consumers who have experienced confrontations with hair salons has increased. Consumer complaint hotlines 12315 and 96315 have recently logged 53 such complaints, in which consumers claimed that because the hair salons do not automatically provide them with a receipt for services rendered, the burden of proof is made more difficult for them.
The BAIC recommended that consumers not only ask for receipts but also advised customers who are applying for a membership card to sign a written contract delineating the validity period and refund conditions.
