China's Li Na got her run started on Monday in Melbourne against Ana Konjuh of Croatia. Li, the fourth seed for this year's Aussie came runner-up last year, losing to Belarus' Victoria Azarenka in the final. The Chinese got her year off to a solid start by winning her first tournament of 2014 in Shenzhen and she would pick up where she left off.

Li's opponent Konjuh...was playing in her first ever Grand Slam match and the 16-year-old teenager showed well early on in this one, showcasing a strong service game to hold on to her first serve and give Li something to think about.

But Li would begin to take control of the first frame as she unleashed some great groundstrokes to pick up a couple breaks and the Chinese would show off the quality of her game as she took the opener 6-2.

The second would be even more clinical for the former French Open champion. Li would bagel her young Croat opponent, taking it 6-0 to move on to round two, where she will face Japanese veteran Kimiko-Date Krumm.
