A 4-year-old giant panda born in the United States arrived in China on Saturday in time for the coming Spring Festival, Southwest China Metropolis Daily reported on Sunday.
Named Yun Zi, the male panda was born in 2009 in San Diego Zoo, California, and lived there for four years. Yun Zi's mother was named Bai Yun and Yun Zi got his name from Internet voting by more than 17,000 people in the United States. Yun Zi means the child of Bai Yun.
Yun Zi will stay in quarantine for one month at the China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center in Dujiangyan, Sichuan province. He will be the first panda born abroad to live at the center.
