Shanghai governmental bodies have cut expenditure by more than 260 million yuan ($43 million) since July when the municipality started a campaign to trim spending.
Following the central government's call to regulate government departmental expenditure on receptions, vehicles and overseas trips, also known as "the three public consumptions", Shanghai has cut more than 9,800 conferences and meetings since July 2, 2013.
Shanghai has investigated and punished wrongdoing in 87 cases involving 111 people that broke the eight-point code issued by the central government to curb bureaucracy.
