Student advertising projects at a Chinese university were recently subjected to the harshest of critics – Chinese netizens.

Juniors at Jinshan College of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University were required to post their semester projects on their Sina Weibo microblogs, where only if their works are reposted over 100 times would they receive credit for the course, reported Southeast Satellite TV on January 14.

Students were required to submit a soft sell to their department along with the illustrations. Grades were based on the number of reposts and netizens' comments.

Many of the total 79 works garnered online approval, including an illustration of a Ferris wheel made with clothes pins, raindrops made from colorful jellybeans and napkins folded into a rose.

"Many friends of mine say the grading criteria are interesting and creative," said Chen Zhaoyi, a student at Jinshan College.

Wang Lan, teacher of this course, said the truest measure of a great advertisement is public approval. "This is a way to inspire imagination and innovation," Wang said.
