Bus explosion was caused by passenger

A bus explosion that killed five people in Shaanxi province on Jan 5 was intentionally set by one of the victims, local police confirmed on Jan 15, China News Service reported.

After a police investigation, 45-year-old Dang Zhaofei, who died in the blast, was identified as the suspect responsible for the accident, which occurred on a coach passing through Pucheng county on the evening of Jan 5 and injured 24 others.

Dang prepared the home-made bomb in November, and the provider of the explosive materials has been captured by the police.

According to the report, business debts, a poor relationship with his wife and his son's drowning death were possible motivations for Dang to carry out the suicide bombing.
