The Beijing Administration for Industry and Commerce issued a ban on six unfair clauses in the catering industry, the Legal Mirror reported.
Among the banned clauses are those forbidding customers from bringing their own wine and drinks to restaurants, and being charged one yuan for a set of sterilized tableware. The move is part of a consumer-rights campaign launched by the administration on January 9.
Restaurants will be fined up to 30,000 yuan ($4,956) if they do not rectify matters within one month, said the administration.
The China Consumers' Association (CCA) voiced its support for the ban on the illegal unfair clauses.
