Stealing steel can be seriously damaging to your health

A young thief who tried to steal reinforcing steel bars from a concrete electrical pylon had to call for rescue after the concrete pole collapsed on him in Guang'an, Sichuan province on Wednesday.

The man had been trying to saw through the hollow concrete pole into the steel bars inside on a hill behind the Guang'an Vocational and Technical College on early Wednesday morning.

A firefighter said the reinforced concrete pylon had fallen onto the man's left arm. Rescuers used a cushion to aid the man at about 4:30 am Wednesday, he said. Police arrived after the rescue and are investigating the theft.
