As the festival approaches, many Chinese working overseas are making the journey back home. In border areas like northeast China's Heilongjiang province and southwest Yunnan province, there has been an increase in the number of passengers.
Tongjiang City of Heilongjiang has witnessed an influx of people traveling home from Russia. The number is three times higher than normal. To cope with the large numbers, border checkpoints are providing services to help passengers carry their luggage.
In border cities of Yunnan, people are returning home from nearby countries like Myanmar and Vietnam. Border checkpoints have simplified the procedures to speed-up the processing of the large numbers of passengers.
In other provinces across China, many airports have opened additional passages to facilitate the influx, including those in Xi'an, Hangzhou and Dongguan.
