After three years of consistent training, 80-year-old Li Guochuan can do more push-ups and sit-ups than men a quarter her age.

"I do 150 push-ups in the morning and another 150 sit-ups at dusk. I do them in three sets of 50," said Li, now living in Fuzhou, East China's Fujian province.

Li began exercising regularly three years ago after moving in with her son from her home in nearby Hunan province and started exercising just to pass the time.

"At first, I could only do five or ten push-ups at one time. But thanks to my three years of persistence, I gradually increased the number and now I can do 150," Li told the reporter.

Li also enjoys sports such as badminton and basketball, which she plays every afternoon. Part of her basketball routine includes making 12 shots from six positions. Li said she can complete the 72-shot circuit in 40 minutes and has a 70 percent shooting average.

The exercises keep her healthy, with good appetite and on a regular sleep schedule.
