Beijing's health bureau confirmed on Friday a man was diagnosed with H7N9 infection on Thursday and is in Ditan Hospital for treatment.
The bureau said the man had bought and eaten pigeon before he showed flu symptoms.
Mirror Evening News reported that the man is in his 50s, and has had a fever for days. The man was transferred from Beijing Geriatric Hospital to Ditan Hospital early on Friday morning, the newspaper said.
The family told the newspaper the man's body temperature dropped after he was treated at the geriatric hospital.
