China's railway police said on Monday that security checks have been tightened to ensure safe journeys for travelers during the Spring Festival travel rush.
Nearly 210,000 cases of carrying flammable and combustible materials have been investigated, and 389 imitation guns and 12,326 restricted knives been confiscated.
Local railway public security organs have recruited 6,210 security staff to tighten security checks.
Railway police nationwide have given publicity to the dangers of taking flammable and combustible materials on trains, and travelers found with dangerous materials will be punished, the police said.
