Fireworks vendors are pessimistic about sales during Spring Festival this year due to concerns about heavy pollution, the Beijing Evening News reported.
Fireworks went on sale in Beijing on January 25 in six districts. Several vendors in Chaoyang district have claimed that people are making more inquiries than purchases.
In Beijing, the total inventory of fireworks available for sale this year is 515,000 boxes; 18.7 percent are eco-friendly.
The official website of the Beijing Administration of Work Safety has specific information about when and where fireworks and firecrackers can be set off.
