American novelist Hugh Howey will meet with fans at the Taipei International Book Exhibition (TIBE) which will kick off on Wednesday, as his science-fiction "Wool" landed the 2013 bestselling translated literary work in Taiwan.

Hugh Howey said it is amazing that his book got even more popular in Taiwan than in the United States, and he looked forward to signing copies of his novels here in Taipei, at a TIBE press conference held on Tuesday.

"Two years ago, I worked in an independent bookstore, and that was my day job. On the side, I wrote stories. I never thought anybody, except my wife and my mom, would read my stories," Howey said, expressing gratitude for his popularity among Taiwan readers.

Howey will sign copies of series of novels, including the latest volume titled "Dust".

The TIBE, running from Feb. 5 to Feb. 10, has drawn participation of 648 publishers from over 60 countries around the world. The exhibition will feature numerous book reading sessions focused on 400 popular novelists, illustrators and comic book writers.
