Embassy says 26 Chinese held in Manila

26 Chinese citizens were detained for illegally staying, working or running businesses in Manila by Philippine immigration authorities, the Chinese Embassy said on Tuesday.

The embassy said it has lodged representations to the Philippine side.

The domestic mood in the Philippines seems unfriendly to China as a survey released by Manila-based Social Weather Stations on Tuesday showed the trust of Filipinos in China has been negative since 2012 with 73 percent aware of the disputes with China in the South China Sea.

The survey said that 81 percent of Filipinos interviewed supported the government effort to bring the disputes before a UN arbitration body.
