Hong Kong sentenced a Chinese mainland businesswoman to one year in jail on Tuesday after she attempted to bribe a Hong Kong government worker.
Li Lijing, 34, mailed a check for HK$6,000 ($773.65) to an employee at Hong Kong's immigration department. Li signed the check as payment of "a service fee" in exchange for favors in granting her Hong Kong work visa.
Li was turned in by the government worker and was prosecuted in Hong Kong for "offering advantages and benefits to public servants."
