The odd-number seats of a room in one of Shanghai's popular UME theaters have all been booked out for Valentine's Day, a move launched by singles vowing to give lovers a hard time during the prime-time show that evening.
When the theater at Xintiandi center made its 7:29 pm show of Beijing Love Story available for pre-order a Net user named UP called online for single people to book all odd-number seats to make trouble for lovers heading to the movies that night.
"Want to watch a movie on Valentine's Day? Sorry, please sit separately … give us singles a chance," UP wrote.
The call received hot response, and netizens took immediate action.
Movie booking website gewara.com has confirmed to Shanghai Morning Post that the organizers successfully booked all odd-number seats at a room of the UME theater. Some participants said they are doing so for fun, and hopefully, meeting new friends who could become future partners.
