On February 16, Dongcheng district authorities announced that they will launch a comprehensive improvement of various neighborhoods, including the addition of 500 parking spaces, landscaping, renovation of old residences and public toilets, as well as more educational resources for primary and junior high schools, the Beijing Morning Post reported.
The plan comprises 30 hutong and 14 communities. Renovation work will be done on 48 substandard public toilets so that they will meet the most basic standard, and the porcelain troughs and pipes of 36 old toilets will also be upgraded.
