Chinese prosecutors vowed on Tuesday to target officials' corruption in personnel reshuffles, administrative approvals and law-enforcement activities as part of their graft probe this year.

According to a national meeting of Chinese procuratorates' graft-busting bodies, prosecutors will step up their efforts to probe corruption in state assets management, land projects, food and drug safety, infrastructure building, transportation as well as in sectors of energy and telecoms.

Corruption cases handled by Chinese prosecutors in January reached more than 3,400, registering an increase of 11.6 percent year on year, an official with the anti-corruption bureau of the Supreme People's Procuratorate said.

About 4,500 people were investigated last month, up more than 8 percent.

The official said Chinese prosecutors will continue to crack down on corruption this year.
