All Beijing applicants in the car license plate lottery pool on February 26 for new energy vehicles had a winning bid, because the license quota outnumbered the applicants, the Beijing Youth Daily reported.
In the first lottery of 2014 for new energy vehicles, a total of 1,428 people were eligible for the lottery and 1,666 plates were available. According to the government's plan to develop the new energy vehicle industry, 20,000 car licenses will be issued to local residents and companies.
However, the shortage of electronic charging stations in the downtown area still poses obstacles. The government said it will build 1,000 electronic car charging stations in Beijing this year to solve the problem.
