A hospital has found that more than half of the city's migrant construction workers suffer from health conditions such as labor trauma and respiratory and digestive illnesses, local media reported Thursday.
The report, a blue book issued by the Shanghai First People's Hospital, was based on a survey of 1,594 workers. About 37 percent of surveyed workers said they ignored the symptoms. Some 28 percent chose to medicate themselves. Only 35 percent said they went to medical institutions.
About 67 percent of the workers said that they don't receive regular medical check-ups. Only 18 percent said they planned to have regular check-ups in the future.
