A Wuhan citizen strolled out of a shopping mall on Saturday with five kilograms of gold, for which he dropped 1.38 million yuan ($224,580).
The unnamed man paid 277.3 yuan ($45) per gram at the gold dealership in the city's Shimao Guangchang shopping center: a transaction of 500 separate invoices.
It took seven employees an hour and a half to handle the necessary invoices.
"We've sold millions of yuan in gold before, but rarely do we do separate invoices for more than 10 pieces at a time," a salesclerk said.
