Archaeologists with the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage recently released their latest research on their excavation of a Tang Dynasty (618-907) tomb in Fangshan district, the Beijing Daily reported.
The tomb was the burial site of Liu Ji, a high-ranking military official. Before the excavation, the tomb had already been visited by tomb-robbers. The archaeologists' latest dig unearthed a unique niche which archaeologists speculated to be a storeroom for Buddhist books. Some remains of silk were also discovered, which are believed to have been the possessions of Liu's wife.
