At the Mutianyu Great Wall in Huairou district, the number of words and graffiti in foreign languages found on the landmark outnumbers those scribbled in Chinese, the Beijing News reported.
Most of the foreign words are the names of regions and countries around the world, according to an employee who works at the Great Wall management office. The office has dispatched staff to patrol and prevent tourists from leaving marks and graffiti on the Great Wall.
"The office is also considering setting up two electronic boards upon which tourists can draw graffiti freely," the employee said.
