Shanghai education authorities have denied media reports that a university in the city was selected as the first Scholastic Assessment Test site on the Chinese mainland.

The SAT is a widely used college admission exam, and most top US universities require a candidate's SAT score. Since the test is not offered on the Chinese mainland, students have flocked to the nearest test site in Hong Kong to chase their overseas college dreams.

Chinese media recently reported that Shanghai International Studies University was selected as a SAT test site, allowing students to take such examinations on the mainland. Reports also said the earliest test would be held in June.

The Shanghai Municipal Education Commission denied the media reports on its official micro blog account on Monday, saying the university has not yet received qualification to hold the SAT test, and therefore cannot give the test in June.
