Shaanxi Women's Federation awards honorary titles

Ninety-seven outstanding women and 31 organizations were awarded honorary titles by the Shaanxi Women's Federation for their work in the past year, the federation announced on Tuesday, as part of a celebration of International Women's Day that falls on Saturday.

The federation said it commended the outstanding women and organizations because they worked very hard to contribute to social and economic development in the province, and it hoped other women would follow their lead and make their own efforts to speed up the province's development.

Jing Jianping, president of the federation, said that the 18 million women in the province play important roles for the social progress and economic development of Shaanxi and make great contributions both to society and to their own homes.

"The outstanding women and organizations commended today are representatives of Shaanxi women, who proved their value to society with their wisdom, interpreted the meaning of life with their actions, created achievements in their ordinary work and became banners inspiring us to go forward," she said.
