A female official who beat and partially paralyzed a Nanjing nurse was placed in criminal custody on Wednesday.
Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation official Yuan Yaping, 53, was charged with beating Chen Xingyu, a nurse at Nanjing Stomatological Hospital, a Nanjing police spokesman announced on Wednesday.
Yuan allegedly erupted on February 25 when a male patient was added to the female ward where her daughter was hospitalized.
Nanjing police placed Yuan in criminal custody, noting nurse Chen had not recovered from paralysis of the lower limbs.
Yuan's husband Dong Anqing, publicity director of Jiangsu provincial procuratorate, has been moved from his job and received a permanent administrative reprimand on his record.
Dong did not stop his wife and allegedly pushed and shoved a doctor, the provincial procuratorate said.
