Malaysia Airlines has just issued a new statement on the missing aircraft. It says search and rescue efforts have been expanded beyond the flight path. Apart from the sea, search teams have been also looking for the plane and survivors on land. [Special coverage]
The current focus of operations is "on the West Peninsular of Malaysia at the Straits of Malacca." The statement confirms that debris and oil slicks earlier found at sea do not belong to flight MH370. The carrier says it's working closely with Chinese government officials on emergency management, and authorities are looking at a possibility of an attempt made by MH370 to turn back to Subang.
Malaysia Airlines says the plane underwent maintenance 10 days before the ill-fated flight and "there were no issues on the health of the aircraft."
