An ancient tomb built before the Tang Dynasty (AD 618-907) in Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, was almost completely destroyed recently, Modern Express reported on Thursday.
Fang Qingsong, a resident of the city, reported on his micro blog account on Wednesday that he saw an ancient tomb had been damaged at a construction site and asked the local cultural heritage authority to investigate.
Archaeologists from the city went to the site and found that only a part of the wall of the tomb remained and it had no archaeological value.
The heritage authority of the city ordered the site to stop construction and an investigation is underway.
In May 2013, three ancient tombs built before Tang Dynasty were found damaged at another construction site in the city.
