Parents in Shanghai will be able to book taxis with child safety seats in the future, the news portal xinmin.cn reported Monday.
The measure will be instituted to comply with a local juvenile protection regulation that bans children under 12 from sitting in passenger seats and requires children under 4 years old to ride in cars equipped with safety seats.
Four major taxi companies were given 168 child safety seats Monday.
